I too am contemplating joining the Chamber. Have heard more negatives then positives, but possibly I am not hearing from enough newer businesses as opposed to older establishments. Any opinions?

Teresa, was wondering if you joined the Chamber of commerce. I too am trying to think of ways to generate more business this year. I have tried mass mailings, internet, word of mouth. The only thing that seems to work is referrals so I have limited my advertising because of the cost.

I like to know if is worth joining to the chamber of commerce or not?
Is it worth the money spend with this economy? So far for me is been the references and the internet but would like to get my name out there more. So please advise, thanks.

I am curious as to how some of you are spending your advertising budget this year. With the state of the economy, have you tried any new approaches or is it the same thing every year?
We have been very fortunate over the last 10 - 15 years and haven't had to spend much on advertising since word-of-mouth and the internet are our main sources for new projects.
This year we are going to be advertising a bit more and have just sent out 2700 nice full color 8.5" x 5.5" postcards to selected neighborhoods which outline our business. Will keep you posted as to how that turns out over the next couple of months.
