I was blown away from the minute we walked in the door. Blu Moon definitely offers something different than most other restaurants in our area. The music, the atmosphere, the food... all were unexpectedly edgy, very unique to find in downtown Monroe. The menu is chock full of dishes with just a bit of a twist, enough to make them stand out from the usual.

We each had sandwiches- I had the Club French, and the quality of the ingredients was apparent before I took the first bite. It was so big I had to do a bit of deconstruction, and could only finish half even then! The flavors were just incredible (oh, that bacon! YUMMY!) I substituted the cup of soup (Broc & cheese) for the chips and WOW was that soup delicious.

My husband had the reuben and house made potato chips - perfect! He also had the soup, and it was a hit with him as well but I'll let him tell you about his meal, I'll stick to my own reactions :)

The decor is wonderful, it's apparent that they've gone out of their way to hit the mark with the little touches, the tiny hand painted salt and pepper shakers, the wrought iron caddies on each table, even the table tents announcing the upcoming Boujolais Nouveau party were a much higher quality than the typical card stock folded paper (junk) you find at those big box franchise restaurants.

The music was reggae, the art work was local, the atmosphere was "cool" and relaxed. The tables were set prettily, and included light weight Kraft paper over the table cloths. I joked with the waitress that I was fighting the urge to doodle on it - and she brought me crayons! How fun is that!?

The only negative thing I can say is that *we hadn't been there before* - I adore this little cafe! The outdoor patio was great too, and I'm looking forward to the return of warmer nights so we can go have a drink (Yes, they serve wine, mixed drinks, and such in their Twilight Room.) I am already planning on some summer evenings under the stars on the Blu Moon Cafe patio!

I don't know of any other place quite like this one in Union County, and this wonderful experience only cost us $20 plus the tip. You should try it, you will not regret it!
